What Actually is cPanel Web Hosting?

For your info, it's useful to be aware that most of the cPanel-based web hosting offers on the current hosting marketplace are supplied by a very insubstantial marketing segment (when it comes to yearly cash flow) dubbed hosting reseller. Reseller website hosting is a sort of a small business segment, which furnishes an immense amount of different web hosting trademarks, yet offering absolutely the same thing: mainly cPanel web hosting solutions. This is bad news for everybody. Why? Due to the fact that at least ninety eight percent of the web hosting offerings on the entire web hosting marketplace provide absolutely the same thing: cPanel. There's no diversity at all. Even the cPanel-based web hosting price tags are alike. Quite identical. Leaving for those in need of a top web hosting service virtually no other hosting platform/web hosting CP choice. Thus, there is merely a single fact: out of more than 200k hosting brand names all over the world, the non-cPanel based ones are less than two percent! Less than 2%, mark that one...

200k "web hosting suppliers", all cPanel-based, yet uniquely dubbed

The web hosting "variety" and the web hosting "offers" Google reveals to all of us boil down to just one and the same thing: cPanel. Under hundreds of 1000's of different website hosting trademarked names. Assume you are merely an ordinary fellow who's not very familiar with (as the majority of us) with the web page making processes and the web hosting platforms, which in fact power the individual domain names and websites. Are you prepared to make your web hosting choice? Is there any web hosting alternative you can opt for? Of course there is, now there are more than 200,000 web hosting service providers in existence. Formally. Then where is the problem? Here's where: more than 98 percent of these more than two hundred thousand different website hosting brand names across the world will offer you the same cPanel website hosting CP and platform, labeled in a different way, with exactly the same price tags! WOW! That's how large the variety on today's web hosting market is... Period.

The web hosting LOTTERY we are all participating in

Simple arithmetic demonstrates that to encounter a non-cPanel based web hosting vendor is an enormous strike of luck. There is a less than 1 in fifty chance that a thing like that will occur! Less than one in fifty...

The positive and negative sides of the cPanel-based web hosting solution

Let's not be pitiless with cPanel. At least, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was trendy and probably satisfied all website hosting market prerequisites. To cut a long story short, cPanel can achieve the desired result if you have only one domain to host. But, if you have more domains...

Weak Point Number 1: An idiotic domain folder arrangement

If you have 2 or more domain names, though, be extremely attentive not to delete completely the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will refer to each next hosted domain name, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domain names are very simple to delete on the hosting server, because they all are located into the root folder of the default domain, which is the very well known public_html folder. Each add-on domain is a folder located inside the folder of the default domain. Like a sub-folder. Next time attempt not to remove the files of the add-on domain names, please. Decide for yourself how great cPanel's domain name folder structure is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is situated)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain)

Are you becoming disorientated? We categorically are!

Disadvantage No.2: The same electronic mail folder arrangement

The email folder structure on the server is absolutely the same as that of the domains... Repeating the same error twice?!? The admin chaps firmly strengthen their faith in God when coping with the email folders on the e-mail server, hoping not to mess things up too badly.

Weakness No.3: A sheer absence of domain administration user interfaces

Do we need to refer to the utter deficiency of a contemporary domain manipulation user interface - a place where you can: register/migrate/renew/park or manage domain names, alter domains' Whois information, secure the Whois information, alter/create nameservers (DNS) and DNS records? cPanel does not provide such a "contemporary" user interface at all. That's a huge disadvantage. An unforgivable one, we would like to add...

Negative Side Number 4: Multiple login places (minimum 2, max 3)

How about the demand for an extra login to utilize the invoicing, domain name and technical support management section? That's apart from the cPanel user account login credentials you've been already provided by the cPanel web hosting provider. Now and then, based on the billing transaction system (principally built for cPanel only) the cPanel web hosting provider is utilizing, the earnest users can end up with two extra login places (1: the billing transaction/domain name management software; 2: the ticket support user interface), winding up with a total of three login locations (including cPanel).

Weakness Number 5: 120+ CP departments to get acquainted with... briskly

cPanel presents to your attention more than one hundred and twenty menus inside the website hosting CP. It's a wonderful idea to grasp each one of them. And you'd better become familiar with them rapidly... That's way too arrogant on cPanel's side.

With all due recognition, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel-based web hosting firms:

As far as we are informed, it's not the year 2001, is it? Note that one too...
